Myrtle Beach Food Guide For Foodies!

It’s no secret I am a huge self-proclaimed foodie. Shakira said it best when she said Hips Don’t Lie and trust me when I say my hips do not.  In fact, they shout with every morsel of deliciousness I consume. Which I’m okay with because it means I’ve found some really amazing place to eat.

I recently had the pleasure of exploring Myrtle Beach, South Catalonia. It was such a lovely city to be in. It was also my first visit so of course, I wanted to take it all in and when I say all I’m really talking about trying all the local favorite hangouts to eat.

Myrtle Beach Food Guide For Foodies!

When I first arrived in Myrtle Beach I took the advise I give all my travel readers and that was to ask the locals where they like to hang out and eat. It was clear early on that this was a city that had lots to offer in the way of good food. My stomach began to growl at all the delicious suggestions I got.  In fact, I was so excited I wanted to shout from the roof tops about all the delcious places I found.

I admit when we pulled up to this restaurant I thought okay it’s just another fast food burger joint with pricey burgers. WRONG!!! I was so wrong. Upon entering the first thing I notice was the friendly atmosphere. Yep you heard me an establishment that actually welcomes their guest and wants to serve them.

I also noticed that they have an open kitchen this means you can watch your food being prepared.  What I noticed was that all the burgers were fresh not those frozen premade ones. My mouth was already watering.

After ordering I went to sit down to wait knowing that fresh burgers would take awhile. However within 10 minutes my name was called. I picked up my burger and okay i admit a was a little shocked to see it completely naked. Nothing on it no toppings or condiments. I asked if I had ordered my burger wrong because it was plain But nope this is where the magic happened. The server pointed me to their build your own burger bar. (cue music)

There in the middle of the dining room was a bar loaded with fresh toppings. It had lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and their special Fuddruckers Sauce. It is here you create your burger they way you want it at no extra charge. Want extra pickles on your burger go for it or no onions that can be done to you are only limited by your imagination.

On top of all this goodness is that each burger is served with thick cut handmade fries. Here is the south we call the tater wedges but whatever you call them you must also call the GOOD!!! They came out hot and oh so delicious and make the perfect pairing to your burger made your way,

Johnny D’s Waffles & Bakery

If you are looking fro the best waffles in town then Johnny D;’s is your place. Known to be the place fro the best breakfast in town by locals I was mroe than exciyed to try it out. They were right.

Upon entering you are greeted by a very friendly staff. Seated immediately we were given menus that had everything from waffles to delicious egg Benedict. My only problem was trying to decide what to eat.

In the end I went with the cinnamon roll waffle which was beyond delicious. It tasted just like a cinnamon roll. I must admit the locals were right this place is one of the best.

Santa Maria Restaurant

The Santa Maria Restaurant is a local favorite. Located at The Caravelle Resort this longtime favorite of Myrtle Beach residents offers some of the best southern style food ever.

this local favorite offers a delicious breakfast buffet that includes not only a made to order omelette bar but also a waffle station. along with all the trimmings like fresh fruit, southern biscuit and gravy and one of my favorite breakfast food crispy bacon. Along with coffee, tea or juice it’s a great way to start your morning of exploring.

If breakfast isn’t your thing that’s okay because the Santa Maria Restaurant also offers lunch and dinner I personally recommend the steak it is a melt in your mouth kind of goodness. Best part is that this restaurant is located at The Caravelle Resort so once you are done enjoying a delicious meal you could always just walk up to your room and have a nap or watch the waves on the beach from you balcony.

Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show

The Pirate Voyage Dinner and show is a really fun family experience. From the moment you enter you feel as though you have walked onto a pirate ship. The cast and crew are on point and the pre-show is a delightful way to get things started.  While you enjoy the antics of the pirates you can enjoy a drink and some snacks. But do not enjoy them to much or you may not have room fro what is to come next.

After the fun in the galley you will make your way to the main stage area where the fun will begin. Here you are not only treated to a high sprite show of acrobats and storytelling but you are served a delicious 3 course dinner.

First course is a creamy soup that really hits the spot. this is followed by an entree of chicken, pork and all the yummy fixings. FinallyLulus you are served a warm apple turnover. It is a meal fit for a captain.

Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s

Finally, there is LuLu’s a restaurant that sits on the intercoastal waterway.  With their friendly service and open floor layout it’s a vacation inside a vacation.

I will say I was in awe of this restaurant from the moment I walked in. There is a view of the water that is amazing. the open floor plan allows you to enjoy the breeze from the water. Plus the service is only outdone by the delicious food that is served.

I will admit I have never been a gumbo fan but after sampling the Gumbo at LuLu’sI now understand why everyone says, Gumbo Love. Plus the Fried green tomatoes are perfection.  On top of that, the menu offerings are just wonderful. From fresh fish of the day to their tried and true favorites.
LuLu’s is a must try place.
