So much Magic came out of D23 this year at the Disney parks panel. The company announced some significant changes just around the corner for Walt Disney World and beyond. Here is a look at the best D23 Disney parks announcements.
EPCOT World Focus
Epcot is getting a massive reboot which was hinted at in 2017. We now have more details, and it’s awesome. The park will have a unified world theme with neighborhoods dedicated to World Discovery, World Nature, World Celebration and, of course, World Showcase. World Celebration in the center of the park will be an exciting and vibrant permanent location for the Festival Center; The area will also feature a beer garden and a merchandise center. The rest of the park’s areas will just be expanding upon their existing themes. In addition to new attractions such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and the Moana walkthrough The Journey of Water, there will be another update to Spaceship Earth.
Cherry Tree Lane
The biggest surprise announcement about Epcot at D23 was the Cherry Tree Lane expansion. Disney announced a new Mary Poppins ride but did not give any details about what the ride would be. What we do know is that Cherry Tree Lane, where the Banks’ reside will be added to the existing UK pavilion. The World Showcase will also see it’s new permanent nighttime show Harmonious sometime during 2020.
Star Wars Cruiseliner
Perhaps the biggest news on Walt Disney World at this years D23 was the announcement on the nature of the new Star Wars Hotel. We already knew that the hotel will have direct access to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge and that booking will include a fixed two-night stay. That leaves plenty to speculate about. In August, Disney finally confirmed that the stay would be more like a Disney cruise than a typical resort. The hotel will be a Cruiseliner with a very specific journey. Guests will see space through their windows, and the view will change as the ship progresses through the galaxy. Throughout your time onboard, a story will unfold that your decisions will impact.
One of the announcements that really excited me was the announcement about the new Disney Genie. No, I’m not talking Genie as in rub a lamp but rather a an app for your phone. Let me just let Disney explain.
Planned to debut in late 2020, a revolutionary new planning tool will help guests customize their Walt Disney World Resort vacations in Florida. Using Disney Genie, daily itineraries tailored to guests’ interests will become a reality, and itineraries can be custom built and curated for princesses, thrill-seekers, foodies, families, and more.
With all these new and exciting thing happening I can’t wait to plan my next vacation. what about you/?
