Celebrate National Hot Breakfast Month

Did you know February is National Hot Breakfast month and a great way to celebrate would be scheduling a weekly Breakfast Night?  For us, that is Saturday night, but for you is could be any night you choose.

You may be wondering why I am so excited for this celebration. well, let’s take a look.

1 ~ It’s a meal that is easy enough that even teen boy can cook. By having breakfast as a family teen boy and I can cook together. this gives us quality time to talk. I am able to bond with him and find out what’s happening in life, with school but more importantly what’s happening in his head.

2 ~ Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you think about it your body has gone for 6-8 hours without any food. Having a healthy hot breakfast gets it fueled up again to take on the day.

3 ~ The variety. From hot cereal to scrambled eggs there is much to enjoy for breakfast. One of my favorite recipes this time of year is our King Cake Pancakes made with Krusteaz mixes.

King Cake Pancake Recipe

This recipe is as easy as 1-2-3 or A-B-C.

Ingredients

1 box Krusteaz complete pancake mix

3 bowls

Food coloring

Directions

Mix up the desired amount of pancake mix according to box direction.

Divide batter evenly into the 3 bowls.

Add a few drops of green to one, yellow to another and then mix red/Blue to create purple. You can adjust coloring to desired darkness.

Cook pancakes on whichever method you prefer. I use my griddle I got for Christmas.

Serve with whatever toppings you like fresh berries to maple syrup.

Perfect Pairing

One of my favorite things to pair with my breakfast whether it’s early morning or dinner is a great cup of coffee. Which is why I am loving Community Coffee right now.  It is called Mardi Gras King Cake and it is a perfectly balanced blend of cinnamon and vanilla flavored coffee.  I admit that coffee is one of my go-to drinks in the morning and I have been a fan favorite of Community Coffee for years.

Needless to say when I saw this new flavor hit I was really happy as it paired well with my King Cale Pancake. It’s a great way to celebrate National Hot Breakfast Month and throw in a little Mardi Gras fun.
