My 18 Goals for 2018

My 18 goals for 2018. Yes, I am talking goals today. I know we are almost halfway through January already. I mean seriously time flies. Many of us have made and broken some resolution. Which is why I do not make resolutions anymore. I gave it up my senior year of high school because frankly I never keep them.

That said I don’t want to be clueless about what I would like to change or accomplish in life. Looking back on 2017 earlier this year made me realize a lot can be done in one year. So I decided to take on a new approach making goals. Having goals I want to accomplish keeps me accountable.

With a goal or goals set in writing, I now have a vision for where I want to go and what I want to accomplish this year.  Whether the goal is big or small doesn’t matter. What matters is putting out something into the universe and working towards making it happen.

My 18 Goals For 2018

1) Get Organized

I have set a goal of getting organized in 2018. I am tired of the clutter and not being able to find things. I also what to be able to look at my editorial calendar and know when a post or social shares are doing. I also what to be able to meet deadlines for college applications and scholarship for the son. So getting organized is a top priority.

2) Pitch 10 New Brands

things here have slowed to a crawl. Don’t get me wrong I have never been making money from blogging but I have bee able to score the occasional free product. That said thigs here have literally come to a top. So this year I am making a point to pitch 10 new brands this year. That’s one a month or so maybe more if I find them so I can get things back on track.

3) Wrote 3 post weekly

I went from posting daily to rarely posting at all due to burning out. This year my goal is to write and schedule 3 posts weekly so I can take a break to relax. Of course, there is an exception like sponsored posts being due at the same time and such. But I really need to let the creative juices have time to relax and regroup.

4) Set up office hours

This year I am setting up office hours. Last year I would start working at 5:30 AM and sometimes not stop till 11 PM. I would even work while with the family. This year I am setting office hours and sticking with them. I am even scheduling myself some vacation time.  Let’s fave it when you work outside of the home you have quitting time. I feel I need to have these hours for that reason. No more late night emails to clients or tweeting brand sponsored messaging at 1 PM. I want more family time.

5) Lose 20lbs

My goals this year aren’t just business related some are personal. One such goal is to lose 20 pounds. I have been up and down around the same weight for a while now. I would like to get below this number. So I am taking action. I joined Weight Watchers and I am determined to lose 20 pounds by end of the year.

6) Build a porch/ramp

I have found with age my MS likes to play tricks with me. In doing so getting into and out of my house is getting to be a trial. this year I resolve to find the money to have a porch with a ramp built so I can get into and out of my home with ease.

7) Go to bed earlier

Pretty sure this is explanatory but yes I am setting the goal of going to bed earlier. No more staying up until wee hours of the morning working. With set office hours I am also setting up a normal bedtime routine.

8) Walk 30 minutes a day

I use to go out walking or bike riding 30 minutes a day. It was a great stress reliever. Recently I got out of the habit. in 2018 I am going to get this hobby/habit back in working order.

9) Increase my numbers

this year my goal is to increase my numbers. I want to increase my pageviews by 2000 and all my social networks by 1000. It will be a long journey but doable.

10)  Tell my self one positive thing daily

We are our own worst enemy. That is because we are so hard on yourself or at least I am. This year I am making it a goal to tell my self one positive thing daily. Every morning I look in the mirror and tell my self-something positive. Whether it’s a good job of not killing anyone the day before or just way to go you got up today it must be positive. okay and maybe it won’t always be in the morning but it must be done.

11) Do one random act of kindness monthly

I love when people do random acts of kindness I think it’s a wonderful thing. I don’t however like it much when someone does it then shouts all over the internet that they did it in order to get a pat on the back.  So my goal this year is to do one random act of kindness monthly anonymously. No shouting from the rooftops or posting to social media that I did something kind I just want to do something and know for my self I did it without thought of anything in return.

12)  Learn how to freeze meals

I want to learn how to make freezer meals. I have always wanted to learn how to prep and freeze meals for a future day. My goal this year is to learn how.

13) Read 2 books a month

14) Try 1 new recipe monthly

16) Learn more about SEO

I want to get better at knowing what SEO is and how it works.

17) Make an extra $100 a month

As I said earlier I don’t make money blogging. So my goal this year is to make at least a $100 a month.

  1. I love all your goals. You definitely have a lot on your plate, but I think with the proper planning and organization you can accomplish it. I also like that you set office hours. I think I might have to do the same.

  2. Great goals. We struggle with going to bed early too. I often feel like it’s the only time I get with my partner where we can just relax and enjoy being together, which often leads to late nights.

  3. I used to go for a 30 minute walk in the mornings before the kids get up. I’d love to start doing that again! If you want to up your SEO game, I highly suggest the Sticky Blogging SEO course. I know there’s one opening up on Monday that’s self paced, but so, so, so worth it. I took the class last year and learned so much about how to properly apply SEO methods and track my growth. If you want more details, feel free to email me!

  4. Your 2018 goals are actually very similar to mine! My biggest gal this year is to also lose some weight and pitch even more brands. I do know a lot about SEO (let me know if you ever need some help) but there’s always room for improvement and I will be focusing on that. Having set office hours is something that would be hard for me to tackle with my little kids, I work when I can even if it’s at midnight when they’re sleeping.
