Having grown up being a huge Star Wars fan I was ecstatic when given the opportunity to attend Galactic Nights.
Out of this World Food
Disney is known for having stunning desserts and scrumptious food. But the chefs outdid themselves for Galactic Nights. From mouthwatering entrees including crab duo to pork wings with blueberry slaw, everything was delicious. And don’t get me started on the desserts. They were too pretty to eat. Well, almost!
Special Meet & Greets plus Unique Photo Ops
Guests of the special ticketed event got the chance to take pictures with characters not normally in the parks including the Seventh Sister, K-2SO and even the cuddly Porgs from The Last Jedi. There was even the chance to have your picture taken in front of the Millennium Falcon from artist renderings of Galaxy’s Edge.
All night long the Hollywood Tower Hotel was transformed with an out of this world projection show featuring famous destinations throughout the Star Wars Saga. Stunning imagery took Guests on a ride through hyperspace visiting old favorites and giving glimpses of what’s to come.
Behind the Scenes of Galaxy’s Edge Panel
Everything was outstanding for Galactic Nights, but the Galaxy’s Edge panel was by far my favorite.
Star Wars Alum, Warwick Davis introduced the panel of Walt Disney Imagineers that gave us an inside peek at what to expect from Galaxy’s Edge in 2019. The panel included Scott Trowbridge -Portfolio Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering; Chris Beatty -Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Robin Reardon -Executive Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering and Doug Chiang – VP/Creative Director at Lucasfilm along with host David Collins.
They showed footage captured by drones that gave us a look at how construction is coming along at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park.
We got to see where the magic happens at the Walt Disney Imagineering. Even the conference room is Star Wars themed!
Galaxy’s Edge – Batuu will feature the first-ever full-size Millennium Falcon!
Disney creative directors went on research trips to Morocco and Istanbul to explore ports and markets for inspiration.
Toydarians will sell toys in the street markets of Batuu.
The panel ended with the revel of new trading cards that will be available exclusively at Galaxy’s Edge.
It was a fun-filled hour of laughs, looks behind the scenes and just a smidgen of what will be waiting for Guests in Galaxy’s Edge in 2019.
The 2nd annual one night only event was a huge hit with Star Wars fan and I’m hopeful we’ll see it back for the 3rd year in 2018.
Disclosure: I am a Disney Blogger and though I was compensated with free items it does not alter my thoughts or opinions. I would also like to say a huge thank you to Renee Virata of Military TravelingMom for covering this event for Teacups and Fairy Tales.
