Hello my name is Rebecca and I am addicted to hotel living. Not just those fancy schmancy hotels that leave mints on your pillow but hotels that welcome you like you’re part of their family.
Recently I found the perfect hidden treasure when it comes to this type of welcome. Tuckaway Shores Resort is the gem in king Triton’s staff.
Tuckaway Shores History
Back in 1979, the Tuckaway Shores Resort first opened its doors to the growing number of vacationers visiting the Space Coast. The resort rapidly grew, and, in 1989, the third floor was added to the original structure to accommodate the number of guests. In 2005, the current owners purchased the hotel. Jacqui McPhillips, one of the current owners, wanted to convert one of the units into a vacation home for herself; that decision led her and her partner to turn all of the units into independently owned ones. Today, the units are all managed to the same standards through the efforts of Ms. McPhillips and her staff.
Ms. McPhillips, who also serves as the resort’s general manager, has a passion for independent lodging, and her enthusiasm for Tuckaway Shores and the Melbourne area is apparent. She told me that she wants her guests to feel like family when they visit, and I think that she and her staff succeed marvelously.
Tuckaway Shores is located int the ideal place. Just few miles from things like Brevard Zoo and Andretti Thrill Park we were never from something to entertain us. Yet we were far enough away that we felt like we were is another planet altogether. In a way I guess you were because the difference between one side of the bridge and another.
Because Tuckaway Shores is located in Indiatlantic there are height restrictions so you no longer feel like you’re in a big city but rather a lovely little quaint town. plus you are but a few steps from the beach which gives you that tropical island feel. We are talking lazy days just chilling.
We were lucky to get Rm111 which was located on the bottom floor closed to everything including the beach at my back door.
Each room is more like a small apartment and comes fully equipped with linens, kitchen utensils and more. Once you check in you never have to leave and why would you as everything you need is here.
I have to say being able to buy snacks and food to prepare our meal from a local grocery store instead of eating out was wonderful. I being able to enjoy those meals with the view of an ocean was even better.
Plus each room came with a TV in main room and the bedroom. Along with plenty of towels and bathroom supplies. Son was so happy just to hibernate our first day in.
We were only there for 2 nights so we didn’t even begin to touch the wonderful things this resorts offers.
First there is coffee made fresh every morning in the office for those needing a java fix. There is also a coffee pot in each room.
Because Jacqui wants you to feel at home she supplies guest with pool toys for the kids as well as beach towels, chairs and even beach toys.
There are grills for your use (try the Big Green Egg it is awesome).
Guest laundry, heated pool, and even a community room where you can read or watch TV where it’s cool.
I am sad that I only got to spend a short time here at Tuckaway Shores as it was a wonderful experience and I now get why they are part of the Superior Small Lodging Association. This resort is superior in cleanliness, service and overall welcome feel. I highly recommend you check them out if you’re ever in the Space Coast area for a visit. Jacqui has done a fabulous job with this resort and with the help of staff members like Bryan you are treated very well.
